Getting started
- Add a supplier. Suppliers → Add supplier. Name is all that is required.
- Create a purchase order. Pick the supplier and the destination location, then add products with the Shopify product picker or by typing or scanning a barcode or SKU.
- Mark it as ordered once you have sent it to your supplier. Shopify now shows those units as incoming at the destination.
- Receive the delivery as it arrives, accepting and rejecting counts line by line. Accepted units move into available stock.
Frequently asked questions
Does the app change my inventory?
Only inventory quantities, and only in two places. Marking an order as ordered adds the units to incoming at the destination location; receiving moves accepted units from incoming into available. Both entries are tagged to the purchase order that caused them, so you can see them in the product's inventory history. Nothing else in your store is written.
Does the app email my suppliers?
No. Send the order to your supplier however you already do; marking it as ordered records that you sent it, and starts the incoming-stock tracking.
Where does barcode camera scanning work?
Inside the Shopify Mobile app and Shopify POS, where the scan button appears automatically. It is not available in the Shopify admin in a desktop or phone browser — the admin does not grant apps camera access, which is a platform limitation rather than a missing feature. In the browser you can still type or paste a barcode or SKU into the same field, and hardware barcode scanners work anywhere, since they behave as a keyboard.
Can I change a purchase order after I have marked it ordered?
Yes. Quantities, costs, dates and lines all stay editable while the order is open, and the incoming stock in Shopify follows the change. You do not have to cancel and recreate it.
What if a delivery is short, or some of it is damaged?
Accept the good units and reject the rest — both settle the line, but only accepted units become available stock. The order stays partially received until everything is accounted for, or you can close it short if the remainder is never coming.
I received the wrong quantity and already saved it. Can I fix it?
Yes, on any order, including a finished one: use Update received and restate the line's total. Raise it and the extra units land in stock; lower it and they are drawn back out. The correction appears in the merchant's Shopify inventory history as Inventory correction, and the order's history records what changed.
Can one purchase order deliver to more than one location?
Not currently — each purchase order has a single destination location. Create one order per destination.
Can I receive more than I ordered?
Yes. Over-receiving is allowed, with a warning so it is never silent, and the extra units still reach available stock.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Your purchase orders and suppliers are kept, so reinstalling restores your history. Access tokens are revoked immediately. If you would prefer the records deleted, email us and we will erase them — see the privacy policy.
I am moving from Stocky. Will my existing purchase orders come across?
There is no import yet, so historical orders stay where they are. Add your suppliers, then create new purchase orders in Simply Restock from that point forward.
Something looks wrong, or a sync failed.
An order whose inventory update did not reach Shopify shows a notice with a Retry action. If Retry does not clear it, email us with the purchase-order number and we will look at it directly.
